Sprinkler system subdues fire
Edina, Minn., August 30, 2007 – A sprinkler system subdued a Aug. 16 fire
at a home in the 5000 block of Summit Avenue.
The Edina Fire Department responded to the fire around 2 p.m. A sprinkler
head extinguished the fire, which was contained to the main floor mechanical
room, prior to the arrival of crews.
The fire, which began inside the phone junction box, dropped down onto a
stack of combustible materials being stored inside the mechanical room. The
fire generated a great deal of heat and caused damage to electrical wiring,
telephone cables and a TV cable.
Firefighters worked for over an hour, ensuring that no hot spots remained in
the mechanical room and guaranteeing that the remainder of the building was
free of fire.
