Edina Fire Department rescues man struck by board

Edina, Minn., Nov. 1, 2006 – The Edina Fire Department on Monday, Oct. 30 extricated a man injured in a construction area near Fred Richards Executive Golf Course, 7640 Parklawn Ave.

At 9:30 a.m., the Edina Fire Department was notified of an accident in which a man sustained a back injury. The victim was in a construction area surrounded by 10-foot high walls when he was knocked in the back with a two-by-six board. Skilled crews utilized the ladder truck, ropes and other equipment to extricate the victim from the construction area. Crews worked for a little less than an hour to immobilize the victim and remove him from the construction area. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
