Marty Scheerer
Fire Chief

The mission of the Edina Fire Department is to serve the community by protecting lives, property and the environment in a safe, efficient and professional manner.

The Fire Department is responsible for extinguishing fires, providing paramedic advanced life support medical service, fire prevention and the maintenance of firefighting equipment and fire department facilities. In addition, the Department enforces laws and ordinances pertaining to fire safety.

Chief Marty Scheerer leads 30 full-time firefighter/paramedics and 14 volunteer (paid on-call) firefighters. There are two fire stations in Edina, one at 6250 Tracy Ave., which is currently under construction and another at 7335 York Ave.

Spring open burning restrictions in Edina went into effect 8 a.m. April 23.

Burning restrictions will continue for four to six weeks, or until vegetation greens up enough to significantly lower the fire danger. Residents will still be able to obtain a recreational fire permit through the use of the City of Edina website, but, will not be allowed to have a recreational fire until the ban is lifted. Once lifted, residents will still be required to call a hotline before starting a fire to ensure that outdoor burning is allowed.

For more information on the burning restrictions, contact the Fire Prevention Bureau at 952-826-0378.
