Siiri Doan“Born and raised in the Twin Cities, I got my start in clay while I was a student at Pacific Lutheran University in the early 1990s.
I gravitate toward pots with simple forms. I enjoy a variety of firing
techniques including gas reduction, raku, and soda. Most of my work is
high-fired stoneware with designs drawn on the surface with layers of
glaze. My decorations also include texture imprinted with stamps that
I’ve made myself. I seek out and celebrate variations in surface quality
and color in my work. Recently I’ve challenged myself by trying to see
how many pots I can fit into the updraft kiln at the Edina Art Center.
