Sandra Shaughnessy
Sandra’s
clay experience dates back to her years in Iowa. She studied clay in
Iowa, New Mexico and Michigan achieving a MFA in ceramics in 1986.
Sandra has taught at numerous universities, art centers and regional
clay workshops. She has taught at Edina Art Center since 1998 and is
currently the Pottery Studio Manager for the Center.
Sandra’s work focuses on soda-fired functional ware. Many of her pieces
have a soft altered quality that expresses the softness of the clay and
the atmospheric firing process. Her beautiful and distinctive work is
highly sought after by pottery enthusiasts. Sandra displays her work at
regional art galleries and fairs.
Sandra teaches Advanced Soda-fired Pottery and Pottery for Intermediates
at Edina Art Center.
