Marian Alstad
“Art
is my life; my love and constant challenge. It has kept me centered,
earned me respect in the community and has given me direction. I began
painting 48 years ago and teaching 25 years ago. Without art, I would
feel empty. I teach weekly at Edina Art Center. I encourage students to
overcome their artistic fears. I learn as much from my students as they
learn from me. Each day I discover new aspects of myself through
painting and teaching.”
Marian considers herself an important artist and instructor in the
community. Her classes at Edina Art Center are seldom dull. Each of
Marian’s students is provided with printed information for later
reference. Many of her students are now teaching classes around the Twin
Cities.
“I believe that art is the most important part of everyone’s life,
whether one paints or sculpts, writes, plays music or merely enjoys
viewing or listening. Life is enriched by being involved with art.”
Marian teaches a variety of watercolor classes and workshops at Edina
Art Center.
