Who We Are

Two Edina Police Officers, on duty Nov. 16, 2000, were shot. One of the officers was critically wounded. Two other officers were involved in another shootout later that morning with the gunman who had attempted to assassinate the officers. In August 2002, another armed robbery was attempted, resulting in a shootout with two gunmen, putting several patrons of a Subway Sandwich Shop and an officer in harm's way.

Following those events, and in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, it has become apparent how important support is to law enforcement officers and their families. Under the leadership of Wendy Elasky, spouses of the Edina Police Department have formed a non-profit organization, Officers' Family Network.

It is the mission of the organization to provide education and support to assist families of law enforcement officers in coping with the challenges presented to the family structure.
