Park Board

Rule

The 11-member Park Board develops and reviews plans for the acquisition and development of parks and recreational facilities, develops recreation programs, reviews parkland dedications for new subdivisions and makes recommendations to the Council.

Each member of the Board, which includes a member of the Board of Education, serves a three-year term.

Meetings are aired on Edina Community Channel 16 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturdays and 8 p.m. Mondays for two weeks following a meeting.

Park Board members are each assigned to monitor parks and serve as a liaison between the community and other Board members. Board members and their assignments are: Vice Chairman Mike Damman, Birchcrest, Countryside, Garden and Tingdale parks; Daniel Peterson, Arden, Chowen, Cornelia and York parks; Benjamin Fox, Pobuda, Tupa, Utley, Wooddale and Williams parks; Chairman Todd Fronek, Arneson Acres, Centennial Lakes and Edinborough parks; Ray O'Connell, Fox Meadow, Van Valkenburg and Walnut Ridge parks; Randy Meyer, Bredesen, Heights and Lewis parks; George Klus, Alden, Highlands and Todd parks; Rob Presthus, Kojetin, McGuire, Sherwood and Weber parks; Joseph Hulbert, Rosland, Strachauer and Yorktown parks; Howard Merriam, Braemar, Creek Valley, Normandale and Browndale parks; Jeff Sorem, Pamela, St. John's, Lake Edina and Melody Lake parks.
